What a scandalous, shocking book from our favorite author of "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret", and "Otherwise Known as Sheila The Great"... Mind you, it was not written for our young, impressionable minds, but who are we kidding, that made it all the more fun to read!

Almost four decades later, reading this book through the eyes of a more... experienced and mature woman, I've found it even more fun to read. It's not deep, and it will not unlock any mysteries of the soul, but for those of us who find humor in most everything, to read it is to relish it.

I'm glad I snuck this book under the radar when I was young. What a fun mix of nostalgia revisited with an ability to totally relate. However, no kid under 18 is going to hear that from me. Enjoy!

Reminded me of how awful men treated women\ wives prior to the Woman.s Rights Movement. It left me empty. No substance. And then it ended without warning.
I read this book before and had to get it to read again. I love Judy Blume books. I read them as a teen and was so glad that she had adult books. I used to live in NJ so I relate to her stories. Will be buying more for my kindle.
A good story of ups and downs of marital relationships in the mid-20th century. It relates the foibles of an upper middle-class family in New York who's intra-marital relationship attitudes are influenced by the information and misinformation of family and their circle of friends. I was quite entertained by the story and the actions and reactions of the characters. I don't think I would have enjoyed reading "Wifey" when I was in my 20's but only for the simple reason that I had 20 years before I discovered and developed my enjoyment of reading. (NOTE TO AUDIENCE (if any) I didn't make that discover until I had reached the age of 40.)

This is another of the mid-20th century novels that likely raised the hue and cry and embarrassed the more conservative members of American Society at the time of publication date while they secretly read it and laughed out loud when no one was looking or listening.
Judy Blume can do no wrong for me, so that's probably why I loved it. I get her humor and find it hilarious. I loved the story, the characters, and everything they went through. Laughed a lot. The ending is a little weird and abrupt, but I'd already had a great ride, so it didn't bother me too much.
Judy Blume for adults! Frank, funny, and unexpected. This was the first Blume for adults I read. I read it years ago but recently purchased the edition. It's fun to read a couple decades later. (Yes, I'm old!) Funny how your point of view changes. If you haven't read this lately, I recommend that you do.
In reading a few of the current reviews I had to chime in. When you read Wifey please read it with the perspective of the time in which it was written. It was written in 1978 and therefore probably will not be as liberated as some of our more current sexy fictional​ stories. Enjoy!
Usually I don't read books about unhappy women in marriages and didn't think I'd enjoy it. But a Judy Blume! I had to try it! The character Sandy was well developed and is confused about who she is in the marriage. I could relate to this as we all have to be careful not to lose ourselves in a marriage! We also need to nurture marriage and keep it alive. I devoured it!
