4½ Star ReviewAlessandra never fails to amaze me with her stories and storytelling. Never. I have yet to want to put her books down. Once I start, I want them to last forever, meanwhile wanting to get to the end at the same time.
I thought this book was going to be a love story with a baseball player in it. And it was, and it was also a little bit of a mystery that I hadn't expected. At first, I was confused about some pieces. I couldn't figure out where they fit with the story. Then, the pieces started to fall into place and all I could think was, "You little sneaky devil Alessandra. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky".
Like I said, I have liked/loved every book of Alessandra's that I have read. And like I said, when I started this book I thought it was just a romance... So... if you know my tastes in genres, I am not one to usually like romance. Not nice romance. This is a little nice, a little raw and a lot of intrigue. I know that isn't really a genre. But still, it wasn't what I thought it would be. I am happy about that.
This story unfolds at such a pace I found myself wanting to get to the end but wanting more too. Between the lies, secrets, angst and twisted love story, I didn't want to put this book down.

3.5 stars.First off I want to be clear that a adore the writings of this author,Hollywood Dirt,Love Chloe ,Black Lies,Sex Love Repeat, just great books, her best work and I swear you will love those reads, please try them all, just the best!!.Now for Moonshot,I was really loving it until the 50 percent mark, then I only liked it.The first half was so great, this young girl growing up with her famous pitcher dad surrounded by the Yankees meeting the wildest bad boy of baseball, ok all in going great, then the mistake moment with Tobey,I get it,juvenile mistake but that is what happens when you are 18 years old. Then the whole 4 years later,no contact with Chase ok can still see how that can happen, didn't love it but then the whole " who dun it" killer on the lose thing just wasn't a good fit for this story or for me,sorry. It just seemed out of place for this book.It just kind of threw me off of this love story read,it was just ok . I just wanted the book to focus more on Ty and Chase finding their way back.I appreciated, really appreciated the first half so much,It was so hard to believe that Chase became a celibate man for 4 years too, that was a huge character stretch, from him going on drug binges and threesome's to celibate was just to far of a stretch for me.Loved the Epilogue though so thank you for that.I just really missed Ms Torre laying out the huge passionate read that she usually takes us all on,even the beginning relationship between Ty and Chase was missing a little of that build up to "wow, these two have something special ", I just missed that extra effort, extra detailed writing of emotions that we usually get from this author that always makes her reads so damn 5 star!,also I missed her witty, snarky and funny as heck one liners, Ty could have given alot of that to Chase for sure, especially in the very beginning, gosh he deserved that.It was a good read but it wasn't Ms.Torre's usual "Wow" reads, kind of bummed, but she is still on my automatic must download everything she writes ,that will not change.bottom line, liked it,wish I loved it but Ms.Torre is a very talented writer so you will always get your money's worth of a read so again always worth your time, truly.
This was my second novel I've picked up and read by Alessandra Torre. The first being Black Lies. Black Lies was a crazy twisted masterpiece and I was left reeling when I finished... so I wasn't sure what I was in for when I started Moonshot.
Tyler "Ty" Rollins grew up in a world of baseball. Her father, Frank Rollins, is a Hall-of-Fame bound closing pitcher for the prestigious New York Yankees. Baseball was in her blood. Since her mother's death when she was seven years old, Ty has accompanied the team every year, earning her spot as a batgirl. A role she took very seriously.
Enter Chase Stern, a bad boy ball player based in Los Angeles. He makes a mistake with one of his teammate's wives and he is shipped off to New York immediately. One thing that struck me as odd with this development was the Yankees pedigree for no drama and high expectations taking on this player who clearly has drama in spades. It was addressed in the book, but it made me scratch my head. Just a little blip, didn't stop me from turning pages as fast as I could.
One of my favorite parts about the book was the relationship Ty has with her father. You could feel the close knit bond between the two of them. Frank was fighting the battle of raising an independent 17-year-old girl in a male dominated world while protecting her from what he knew could come from her presence there.
Enter Chase Stern. The moment these two meet on the page, the chemistry crackles instantly. I felt it leap right off my . I loved every moment. Every glance, Every interaction. All of it. The forbidden aspect of their growing relationship made it spicy and even more captivating. The thrill for the characters was just as exciting for the readers. With every secret rendezvous, stolen moment, heart-melting kiss I fell as deeply in love with these characters as they did with one another.
As is with most "bad boys" in books, there is usually something in their past that triggers the behavior. As is the case with our hero, Chase. Memories of this moment from the past causes a lapse in judgment, which sets of the rest of the book like a domino effect. No spoilers here.
This sets up the second half of the book.
Honestly, I don't want to give away too much in my review because it's important for you to go as blind as possible. I am notorious for peeking at future chapters or sneaking the last few pages at the end of the book, but this time, I NEEDED to be surprised.
There is definitely a knock-your-socks off romance throughout the entire novel. It's a heart-pounding, swoonworthy, catch-your-breath kind of romance swirled around a mystery that will keep the pace of the second half going along at a brisk pace. You won't want to put down the book. You have to reach the pinnacle to find out just how this story will unfold. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. I promise.
